Eco-Friendly Nail Polish
Whilst a nail polish can never be 100% natural, recyclable, and/or biodegradable, we have done our best to create the most eco-friendly version of a nail polish that we could. We did this by creating a nail polish which is:

- Made with 100% plant derived solvents (free from petrochemically derived solvents)
- Microplastic* free formula (incl. styrene/acrylates copolymer)
- Made with up to 87% natural ingredients

How to use
We recommend two thin coats of nail polish to get the best opaque result. For an extra long-lasting manicure, we recommend applying a base coat before the nail polish and a top coat afterwards.

What’s in our nail polish and why?
ETHYL ACETATE – A solvent which helps keep the nail polish liquid in the bottle but evaporates when on your nails so that the nail polish is able to harden. Ethyl acetate has a fruity smell but in nail polish it smells slightly stingy and potent. The solvents in nail polish are what give nail polish it’s typical smell. Ethyl acetate can be petrochemically derived or plant derived. In Kia-Charlotta nail polish shades it is 100% plant derived.
BUTYL ACETATE – Another solvent which helps keep the nail polish liquid in the bottle but evaporates when on your nails so that the nail polish is able to harden. Butyl acetate also has a fruity smell but in nail polish it smells slightly stingy and potent and also gives nail polish it’s typical nail polish ”smell”. Butyl acetate can be petrochemically derived or plant derived. In Kia-Charlotta nail polish shades it is 100% plant derived.
NITROCELLULOSE – A film forming polymer which, once the solvents have evaporated, hardens on your nails and forms a hard film on top of your nails. In order for nail polish to solidify as well as last long on your nails, it needs a film forming polymer and nitrocellulose is one of the safest as well as best quality film forming polymers.
ADIPIC ACID/NEOPENTYL GLYCOL/TRIMELLITIC ANHYDRIDE COPOLYMER – Film forming polymer. With nitrocellulose, this ingredient helps keep the nail polish hard and smooth on your nails as well as helps with longevity.
TRIETHYL CITRATE ALCOHOL – In nail polish this ingredient is used as a plasticizer. Plasticizers make nail polish more flexible and increase their durability. They help make the nail polish less prone to cracking or chipping.
STEARALKONIUM BENTONITE – A thickening agent which helps keep the pigments suspended and helps maintain the smooth and thick consistency of the nail polish.
DIACETONE ALCOHOL – A solvent which also helps give a glossy finish for the nail polish.
MALTOL – Maltol is a naturally occurring organic compound which is often used as a flavoring agent. In our nail polish however, we don’t include maltol for the flavor, but for something quite different. Maltol has proven to significantly minimize the formation of nitrosamines which can be formed in very small amounts from nitrocellulose. This is a great impact which makes our nail polish even better than before.
PENTAERYTHRIL TETRAISOSTEARATE – A liquid emollient which increases viscosity and gives the nail polish its shine and gloss.
PHOSPHORIC ACID – A mineral acid which is used to control the pH of the nail polish
PIGMENTS – These are what give the nail polish their colour, shine, shimmer and/or metallic tone. Pigments are denoted with their CI numbers. Metallic, glitter or shimmer shades may also contain mica.

We have done our best to create the a nail polish that is as natural as possible and our nail polishes are up to 87% natural (depending on the pigments used) and we don’t include many ingredients commonly used in nail polishes.
Vegan
All Kia-Charlotta products are vegan meaning we do not include any animal derived ingredients in our products. Vegan nail polish does not contain any carmine, which is used as a red pigment and is derived from cochineal bugs, or guanine, which is derived from fish scales and is used in glitter and metallic shades.

Eco-Friendly
Whilst a nail polish can never be 100% natural, recyclable and/or biodegradable, we have done our best to create the most eco-friendly version of a nail polish that we could. Not only are the solvents in our nail polish shades 100% derived from plants (instead of petrochemically derived) but we also do not contain any styrene/acrylates copolymer (often referred to as a liquid microplastic) which you will find in almost all other nail polishes whether conventional or more natural. Additionally, we have made the conscious choice to use 5ml bottles so that we can minimize any unnecessary nail polish waste. Finally, we do not use any plastic in our secondary or delivery packaging and only use FSC certified and/or recycled paper.
We believe that when it comes to nail polish, Kia-Charlotta nail polishes are pretty much on of the most eco-friendly options you can find.
Premium Quality
At Kia-Charlotta our mission is to create 100% vegan make-up and nail polish products in premium quality meaning we do not compromise and try to find the perfect balance between quality and safe/natural as well as vegan ingredients. Although we stay away from the most harmful ingredients and animal derived ingredients, we promise there is no compromise when it comes to quality. Our nail polish last in average between 4-7 days and they have a beautiful opaque glossy finish.
Shipping Policy
By placing an order through this Website you will be agreeing to
the terms below. These are provided to ensure both parties are aware of and
agree upon this arrangement to mutually protect and set expectations on our
service.
1. General
Subject to stock availability. We try to maintain accurate stock counts on our
website but from time-to-time there may be a stock discrepancy and we will not
be able to fulfill all your items at time of purchase. In this instance, we will
fulfill the available products to you, and contact you about whether you would
prefer to await restocking of the backordered item or if you would prefer for us
to process a refund.
2. Shipping Costs
Shipping costs are calculated during checkout based on weight, dimensions and
destination of the items in the order. Payment for shipping will be collected
with the purchase.
This price will be the final price for shipping cost to the customer.
3. Returns
3.1 Return Due To Change Of Mind
We will happily accept returns due to change of mind as long as a
request to return is received by us within 7 days of receipt of item and are
returned to us in original packaging, unused and in resellable condition.
Return shipping will be paid at the customers expense and will be required to
arrange their own shipping.
Once returns are received and accepted, refunds will be processed to store
credit for a future purchase. We will notify you once this has been completed
through email.
We will refund the value of the goods returned but will not
refund the value of any shipping paid.
3.2 Warranty Returns
We will happily honor any valid warranty claims, provided a claim
is submitted within 90 days of receipt of items.
Customers will be required to pre-pay the return shipping, however we will
reimburse you upon successful warranty claim.
Upon return receipt of items for warranty claim, you can expect All Maintenance
to process your warranty claim within 7 days.
Once warranty claim is confirmed, you will receive the choice of:
(a) refund to your payment method
(b) a refund in store credit
(c) a replacement item sent to you (if stock is available)
4. Delivery Terms
4.1 Transit Time Domestically
In general, domestic shipments are in transit for 2 - 7 days
4.2 Transit time Internationally
Generally, orders shipped internationally are in transit for 4 - 22 days. This
varies greatly depending on the courier you have selected. We are able to offer
a more specific estimate when you are choosing your courier at checkout.
4.3 Dispatch Time
Orders are usually dispatched within 2 business days of payment of order
Our warehouse operates on Monday - Friday during standard business hours, except
on national holidays at which time the warehouse will be closed. In these
instances, we take steps to ensure shipment delays will be kept to a minimum.
4.4 Change Of Delivery Address
For change of delivery address requests, we are able to change the address at
any time before the order has been dispatched.
4.5 P.O. Box Shipping
We will ship to P.O. box addresses using postal services only. We
are unable to offer couriers services to these locations.
4.6 Military Address Shipping
We are able to ship to military addresses using USPS. We are unable to offer
this service using courier services.
4.7 Items Out Of Stock
If an item is out of stock, we will dispatch the in-stock items immediately and
send the remaining items once they return to stock.
4.8 Delivery Time Exceeded
If delivery time has exceeded the forecasted time, please contact us so that we
can conduct an investigation.
5. Tracking Notifications
Upon dispatch, customers will receive a tracking link from which they will be
able to follow the progress of their shipment based on the latest updates made
available by the shipping provider.
6. Parcels Damaged In Transit
If you find a parcel is damaged in-transit, if possible, please reject the
parcel from the courier and get in touch with our customer service. If the
parcel has been delivered without you being present, please contact customer
service with next steps.
7. Duties & Taxes
7.1 Sales Tax
Sales tax has already been applied to the price of the goods as displayed on the
website
7.2 Import Duties & Taxes
Import duties and taxes for international shipments will be pre-paid, without
any additional fees to be paid by customer upon arrival in destination country
8. Cancellations
If you change your mind before you have received your order, we are able to
accept cancellations at any time before the order has been dispatched. If an
order has already been dispatched, please refer to our refund policy.
9. Insurance
Parcels are insured for loss and damage up to the value as stated by the
courier.
9.1 Process for parcel damaged in-transit
We will process a refund or replacement as soon as the courier has completed
their investigation into the claim.

We will process a refund or replacement as soon as the courier has conducted an
investigation and deemed the parcel lost.
